Epcot Hours

Normal operating hours at the Epcot Theme Park at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Fla. are different than the other parks. Just like all the others, every day starts off with a “Rope Drop” time, which is the earliest time guests are allowed to enter the park, and ends with a close time, which is the latest time that guests are allowed to enter a standby line for a ride.

The Rope-Drop time is when Epcot’s rides and attractions open, but the World Showcase will open later than this.

Disney is constantly trying to improve user experience, and in the process, it has inadvertently made things more complicated by adding Extra Magic Hours. These special times will be discussed later in the post, but you can jump to them now by clicking this link:

Normal Hours at Epcot

Epcot rides and attractions normally open either at 8 a.m. or 9 a.m., and they normally close at 8 p.m. or 9 p.m. with fireworks following park close, but hours can vary occasionally by day and/or month. The Epcot World Showcase will usually not open until 11 a.m.

Arriving at Epcot

With so many factors going into the final decision, it can be difficult deciding when to arrive at Epcot. Some things you have to consider are: Do you have Extra Magic Hours by staying at a participating Disney Resort (See the full list of Disney Resorts and their locations)? Do you have small children? Are you going to the after-hours event?

If you do decide to go to Epcot at rope drop, I suggest you read up on our Epcot Rope Drop Strategy post. The post will break down your two major options for that and what to do in each one.

Extra Magic Hours

Extra Magic Hours are a Disney perk offered to guests staying in Disney hotels (and select partner hotels) with a valid ticket. Extra Magic Hours allow guests early access to the parks (typically one extra hour) for some attractions on select mornings.

Evening after hours are pretty much nonexistent at Epcot. You can view upcoming Extra Magic Hour times on the Disney website by clicking the picture below:

We briefly discuss Extra Magic Hours at Epcot as part of our Epcot Rope Drop and Extra Magic Hours strategy post.

Morning Epcot Extra Magic Hours Open Attractions

Different attractions are open during Extra Magic Hours depending on whether they are morning extra-hours or evening extra-hours. For a complete list of open attractions and their times, see our Epcot Extra Magic Hours Rides post!

*** Remember, you must be staying at a Walt Disney Hotel (or partner hotel) to use Extra Magic Hours as well as a valid ticket for regular day admission.

No Extra Magic Hours

It’s completely fine if you don’t get Extra Magic Hours at Epcot. Even without the extra hour, you can have just as much fun as someone staying on a Disney Resort property!

If you are lucky enough to score the Fast Pass+ for one of the most popular attractions, such as the Frozen Ever After boat ride or Soarin’, then you are way ahead of the game, and maybe even ahead of those with Extra Magic Hours.
